Thank you for participating
Posted by Yit Chin Chuan, NLB, Singapore     Posted on 11/1/2007

Dear everybody,

It had been a great conference and we would like to thank everyone who has been a part of our conference.

Some points of note, please be aware we have made as many copies of the papers and powerpoints available on this website.  Please also note that the copyrights belong to the authors so if you need to seek clearance, please contact the appropriate authors.

Apologies - we noticed that we have mixed the papers inside the printed conference proceedings binder for Cyril`s and Janifer`s papers (tracks 4.1 and 4.2 under Future Directions - all you need to do is to switch their positions - that`s the nice thing about having a ringbound file).

I will try to see if I can get a PDF version of the combined proceedings up either on this website or NLB`s DL website soon.  Am working on merging the individual papers. (PS: I just noticed that I might be able to put in an attachment so let`s see what happens in the next few days).

Cheerios and until we meet again for the next conference in Hanover Germany 2009!

Yit

A note from CE NLB
Posted by Yit Chin Chuan, NLB, Singapore     Posted on 9/4/2007

Dear Friends,

We at the National Library Board (NLB) are honoured and delighted to be chosen to host this year’s 10th Interlending Document & Supply (ILDS) International Conference. I welcome all of you to the heart of Singapore, the National Library.

The 10th ILDS Conference held on 29-31 October 2007 will bring together information and knowledge professionals and business leaders from around the globe to engage in exchanges on the theme "Resource Sharing for the Future, Building Blocks for Success". This event is organised by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and NLB, and supported by the Goethe-Institute.

Interlending and document supply is one of the cornerstones of global library operations. Windows of opportunities will be available for strategic alliances and partnerships. This is in line with NLB’s efforts of encouraging collaboration where Knowledge comes alive by igniting Imagination and creating Possibility. It also gels in with our L2010 vision of "Libraries for Life, Knowledge for Success" where we hope to enhance knowledge access.

I am pleased to announce that to date, more than 140 delegates from around the world such as Europe, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Asia. have registered for this event and the seats are still filling up! We also have numerous sponsors and exhibitors like Rapid ILL, Proquest, CISTI, Relais, OCLCS-PICA who have generously donated and contributed to this event.

I look forward to welcoming all of you in October 2007!

Thank you.

 Dr N Varaprasad

Chief Executive

National Library Board

Hotel Rooms Booking - Do not delay anymore
Posted by Lee Mei Chen, NLB, Singapore     Posted on 8/20/2007

Dear delegates

As we are only 2 months away from the conference, we hope you can book your hotel accomodation as soon as you can.  Singapore is currently facing a situation of hotel rooms shortage.  This is due to a number of big events being held in the same month as Oct 07 as well as a projected increase in number of tourists visiting the country.

The hotels we have made arrangement with for ILDS Conference may not be able to hold on to the reserved rooms beyond mid Sep 07.  Thus, do book early and secure your rooms now.

Please book through our appointed agent via the conference link :

http://www.nlbconference.com/ilds/hotels.htm

Thank you very much

Keynote speaking at 10 ILDS 2007 Singapore
Posted by Ngian Lek Choh, National Library Board, Singapore     Posted on 4/2/2007

Abstract :

With the huge and unprecedented developments that we see in the digital and internet world in recent years, and the impact of these on the way users use library collections and services, traditional interlibrary loan and document services are undergoing tremendous pressures from end-users to change to better serve their needs and lifestyles.

This paper will be presented in two parts: the first part focusing on the trends and practices as learnt from libraries we interacted with, and documented in literature, and the second part on the National Library of Singapore`s response to these trends and demands from our own users.
